Course Approval & Certification Benefits
Upon successful completion of an NRA course or program, students will receive:
- A Course Completion Certificate signed by the NRA-Certified Instructor
- An NRA Wallet-Sized ID Card (for applicable courses)
- Printed course materials for ongoing reference
- FBFT Safety Rules Card (English and Spanish)

All certifications are issued through the National Rifle Association (NRA) and nationally recognized. CCW class students will receive the certificate required for the Florida Concealed Carry Weapon License application.

NRA Certified Basic Pistol Shooting Course
DESCRIPTION
The Basics of Pistol Shooting Course is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling of a pistol in classes of ten or fewer students. This course is approximately eight hours long and includes classroom and firing range time learning the fundamentals of shooting a pistol. Students will learn the rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; shooting from the benchrest and the two-handed standing position; cleaning the pistol; and additional opportunities for skill development.
NRA Certified Basic Rifle Shooting Course
DESCRIPTION
The Basics of Rifle Shooting Course is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling of a rifle in classes of eight or fewer students. This course is approximately eight hours long and includes classroom and firing range time learning the fundamentals of shooting a rifle. Students will learn the rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; shooting from the benchrest and the free-arm and support-arm standing positions; cleaning the rifle; and additional opportunities for skill development.
NRA Certified Basic Shotgun Shooting Course
DESCRIPTION
The Basics of Shotgun Shooting is approximately ten hours long and includes classroom and firing range time learning the fundamentals of shooting a shotgun. Students will learn the rules for safe gun handling; shotgun parts and operation; ammunition; shooting moving clay-pigeon targets; cleaning the shotgun; and additional shotgun games and activities.
NRA Certified Personal Protection Inside the Home (PPIH) Course
DESCRIPTION
This is an eight-hour course. Students should expect to shoot approximately 150 rounds of ammunition. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development.
NRA Certified Personal Protection Outside the Home (PPOH) Course
DESCRIPTION
This is a fourteen-hour course, in which we fire approximately 350 rounds of ammunition. The course is divided into two levels. Basic, or Level I, is a 9-hour portion in which we fire approximately 100 rounds. The Advanced, or Level II, is a 5-hour portion in which we fire approximately 250 rounds of ammunition. Prerequisite: NRA Basic Personal Protection In the Home Course.
NRA Defensive Pistol
DESCRIPTION
This course focuses on the techniques needed to develop a defensive mindset. Students will learn how to apply the NRA Rules for Safe Gun Handling when carrying a concealed firearm, basic principles of concealment, drawing from the holster, levels of mental awareness, clearing common stoppages, use of pocket pistols, and more.
Florida Concealed Carry (CCW) Permit Certification Course
DESCRIPTION
3–4 hour course that meets all Florida state requirements for CCW permit. Includes firearm safety, legal aspects, and live-fire qualification.
NRA Range Safety Officer Certification Course (non-shooting course)
DESCRIPTION
This nine-hour non-shooting course prepares students to become NRA Certified Range Safety Officers. It covers the roles and responsibilities of an RSO, standard operating procedures, range inspection, safety rules, range briefings, emergency procedures, and firearm stoppages. Students must be 21 years of age or older.
Certified NRA/NMLRA Muzzleloading Course (Pistol, Rifle and/or Shotgun)
DESCRIPTION
This course teaches the fundamentals of safe muzzleloading firearm use and is designed for students interested in pistol, rifle, or shotgun muzzleloading disciplines. The course lasts a minimum of 12 hours and can focus on one discipline or combine all three depending on training goals.
Certified Shotgun Shell Reloading
DESCRIPTION
This course is designed for beginning reloaders who want to learn how to safely reload shotgun shells. Training includes classroom instruction and hands-on practice, covering essential tools, components, procedures, and safety considerations for effective shotgun shell reloading.
NRA Refuse To Be a Victim (RTBAV) Seminars
DESCRIPTION
This non-firearms seminar teaches students how to reduce their chances of becoming a victim of crime. Topics include mental preparedness, situational awareness, home security, travel safety, personal protection strategies, and crime prevention methods for individuals and families. Seminar length typically ranges from 4 to 8 hours.
Gun Cleaning and Maintenance Orientation
DESCRIPTION
This hands-on orientation teaches students how to properly clean, maintain, and care for firearms to ensure safe function and long-term performance. The session covers essential cleaning tools, safe disassembly practices, basic maintenance procedures, and proper storage considerations for handguns, rifles, and shotguns.
One-on-One Personalized Session at the Range
DESCRIPTION
This private session is designed to address the specific needs and goals of each student. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced shooter, this one-on-one training provides focused instruction at the range to improve accuracy, technique, confidence, and overall firearm handling skills in a controlled and safe environment.

AR-15 / Semi-Automatic Rifle Course
DESCRIPTION
This hands-on course provides instruction in the safe handling, operation, and maintenance of AR-15 and other semi-automatic rifles. Students will learn proper stance, sight alignment, loading and unloading procedures, malfunction clearing, and basic marksmanship techniques. Emphasis is placed on safety, control, and responsible firearm use in real-world applications.
